Te Anau has plenty of accommodation options, and picking the right one isn't always easy. In this article, we introduce you to Blue Ridge Studios, a locally and family-owned Bed and Breakfast in the heart of Te Anau.

Luxe Tours has no ownership or affiliation with Blue Ridge Studios. Our aim is simply to share unbiased information about another local family business we think does a great job.

Blue Ridge Studios, Te Anau

Who Are Your Blue Ridge Studio Hosts?

Blue Ridge Studios is owned and operated by local couple Laura and Derek, who moved to Te Anau in early 2023 after their three older daughters had left home and they were looking for a change of pace.

Along with their two youngest kids, Devon and Kassidy, Laura and Derek took on the property, which needed some work to bring it up to standard.

Derek is a local police officer in Te Anau, so Laura is generally the host you'll meet on arrival and looks after the day-to-day running of the three studios on site.

You might spot Derek working on the gardens that surround the B&B, and he's always up for a chat if you're keen.

Where Are Blue Ridge Studios?

Blue Ridge Studios is at 15 Melland Place, a 5-minute walk from the heart of Te Anau township, with its main street and food options.

The studios sit down a driveway on a rear property, so the setting is quiet and private. There's free and safe car parking next to the studios, and on arrival, Laura or Derek will show you to your studio and answer any questions.

Who is Blue Ridge Studios Best Suited to?

Blue Ridge is a great fit for couples looking for something a bit different, away from the surrounding hotels and motels or the busier main streets of Te Anau.

You'll get friendly service from Derek and Laura, who go the extra mile to make sure you're comfortable.

It's also a good pick if you're staying more than one night, as the kitchenettes and quiet setting help you settle in. Derek and Laura can also help with planning or booking local attractions.

Who is Blue Ridge Studios Not Suited to?

Blue Ridge isn't the right pick if you're travelling on a tight budget and looking for a cheaper stay. That said, it isn't expensive by Te Anau standards either. It sits at mid-range price for accommodation in town and is fair value for a boutique B&B.

We also wouldn't recommend Blue Ridge for families, as the king bed in each studio is the only bed, making it best suited to couples.

Why We Recommend Blue Ridge Studios

We've found Blue Ridge Studios to be friendly and welcoming. Laura and Derek's local touch shows on arrival, and continues inside the studios, which feature lovely artwork and are surrounded by native trees and well-kept gardens.

The studios themselves are modern without being showy, and they sit at a fair price for the quality of stay.

The separation between the guest studios and the hosts' main home gives everyone a bit of privacy, which is something modern B&B guests tend to appreciate.

Breakfast has a strong reputation, too. Some of our Luxe Tours guests have commented on how good it was when we picked them up from Blue Ridge, and this lines up with the wider feedback online. Blue Ridge has an average review rating of 4.9 stars across Google reviews and TripAdvisor.

If you're looking for a quiet, comfortable stay in Te Anau with a local, personal touch, Blue Ridge Studios is well worth considering. We're confident you'll enjoy your stay and think you'll struggle to find equal or better quality for the same price in Te Anau.
